Extract specific pages from a PDF
Extract specific pages from a PDF into a new single-file PDF. Type the pages to keep (e.g. 1-3, 5, 7-10) and download the result.

Extracting pages from a PDF is the inverse of removing them — keep only the pages you want, drop the rest, and download a single new PDF with just the extracted pages. Useful when you need a specific chapter, a single section of a contract, or just a page or two from a long report. Different from Split PDF (which produces multiple PDFs) — Extract Pages produces a single combined PDF of just your selection. Lossless: pages are re-linked, not re-rendered.
How to extract pages step by step
- 1
Upload the PDF
Drop the source PDF. Up to 100 MB free, 200 MB on Pro.
- 2
Type the pages to keep
Comma-separated with hyphens for ranges: '1-3, 5, 7-10' keeps 7 pages total. The output preserves them in the order you specify, so you can reorder while extracting (e.g. '5, 1, 3' reorders).
- 3
Click Extract and download
We use pdf-lib to copy your selected pages into a fresh PDF. Output is a single PDF with just your selected pages, in your specified order.
Why extract pages on PDFOnly
One PDF output, not a ZIP
Split PDF gives you multiple PDFs in a ZIP. Extract Pages gives you one PDF with the selected pages combined. Different needs — most extraction use cases want a single file.
Reordering built in
The order you list pages is the order they appear in the output. Want page 5 first and page 1 second? Type '5, 1'. Most other tools force the original order.
Lossless quality
Extracted pages are byte-for-byte equivalent to the source. No re-rendering, no font substitution, no image recompression.
What people use extract pages for
A few common scenarios. If your workflow looks like one of these, this tool is a good fit.
Extract a single chapter from a textbook
Pull pages 47-89 of a 400-page textbook into a focused study packet. Smaller, easier to share, and respectful of the rest of the book.
Pull a contract clause for redlining
Send just pages 12-15 (the indemnification section) to your lawyer instead of forwarding the entire 80-page contract.
Create a sample preview
Authors and educators sharing a 10-page sample of a long resource: extract just those pages into a clean preview PDF without revealing the rest.
Reorder while extracting
Type '5, 1, 3' to extract pages 5, 1, and 3 in that order — combining extraction and reordering into a single step.

Frequently asked questions
What's the syntax for page numbers?
Comma-separated, ranges with hyphens. '1-3, 5, 7-10' keeps pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 — eight pages total. Whitespace is ignored.
Can I extract pages in a different order than the original?
Yes — the order you type is the order in the output. '3, 1, 5' produces a 3-page PDF with the original page 3 first, page 1 second, and page 5 third.
What's the difference between this and Split PDF?
Extract Pages produces ONE PDF with your selected pages. Split PDF produces MULTIPLE PDFs (one per range). Use Extract for single-file output; use Split when you want each range as a separate file.
Will the extracted PDF keep its original page numbers?
No — pages are renumbered in the output starting from 1. If you extracted pages 5, 7, 10, the output is a 3-page PDF where what was originally page 5 is now page 1. Printed page numbers (part of the page content) stay as they were.
Are bookmarks and links preserved?
Bookmarks pointing to extracted pages stay (renumbered to the new positions). Bookmarks pointing to pages you didn't extract are dropped. Internal links work if both source and target are in the extraction; otherwise the link is dropped.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Not while it's encrypted. Use Unlock PDF first with the password, then extract from the unlocked version.
Maximum file size?
100 MB free, 200 MB on Pro. There's no hard limit on the number of pages — 1000+ page PDFs extract correctly.
