What file types do PDFOnly's tools accept?
PDFs primarily, but tools that convert TO PDF accept their source format: Word (.docx, .doc, .odt), Excel (.xlsx, .xls, .ods), PowerPoint (.pptx, .ppt, .odp), images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, BMP), and HTML files or live URLs. Tools that convert FROM PDF output Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG, or PNG depending on the tool.

Are the tools open-source or proprietary?
We use best-in-class open-source binaries under the hood (qpdf, Ghostscript, OCRmyPDF, Tesseract, LibreOffice headless, Playwright Chromium) plus pdf-lib for JavaScript-side operations. Our wrapper code, UI, and infrastructure are proprietary. The PDF processing itself is bog-standard open-source software running on isolated workers.
